Sticky Date pudding

In this practical lesson, we are making sticky date pudding. I do not like the taste of dates, so I was not looking forward to making this. We made the pudding mix, and were about to put it into the oven, when we found out that the oven was not warm enough, so we had to find another oven. Once the pudding was in, we made the butterscotch sauce. That bit was really nice! We then pulled the pudding out of the oven and put the cover on. My mum and dad will love this.

Chocolate Mousse

In this lesson we were making the delicious dessert; chocolate mousse. The lesson before this, we were given a lesson on how to make the chocolate mousse. I was really wanting to get into this dessert, as I enjoy eating it. We had to be careful, not to overwhip the cream, and beat the eggs early, as the texture of the mousse were'relying' on these 2 components to be chilled right. When we finished our ones, I was really happy with the outcome. They look great! I can't wait to eat them.

Rigatoni with sun-dried tomatoes

In this hospitality lesson, we made rigatoni with sun-dried tomatoes. At first, I was a little sceptical with this dish, as I am not a huge fan of sun-dried tomatoes. We still made it normally, and when I found out chicken was in it,I was a bit happier. Once the pasta dish was made, we put it in the two trays and started to eat the pasta. I was really surprised that it had a similar taste to spaghetti carbonara. I really want to make this dish again for my mum and dad.

Jaffa Muffins

Today for this hospitality lesson we made jaffa muffins. I was making the muffin mixture, while my partner was grating the orange zest. Once our muffin batter had been made, we put them in the oven. When they had finished cooking, we took them out and divided the muffins between the two of us. I took a bit and really enjoyed it. It was a really nice chocolate muffin with an orangey taste to it. It was a great combination.

Cheese and Chutney Mini Muffins

In this hospitality lesson, we made cheese and chutney mini muffins. I was really looking forward to making this. We made the batter by mixing the different ingredients together. Once it was done, we put them in the oven and waited for them to cook. I was really excited. Once they were done, I couldn't wait to eat my muffin. There were great!

Assignment: Kangaroo tacos

In this lesson, my partner and I were supposed to be cooking kangaroo tacos for our assignmen,t but she wasn't there on the day, so I asked another person to help me. I started to get all the spices, and mix them together to toast them a bit, which helps release the flavours. Once that was done, the spices were rubbed into the kangaroo meat and placed in the frying pan. Meanwhile, my temprary partner was cutting up the lettuce and onion. The taco shells were also placed in the oven to cook them just a bit. Once everything was made, lettuce waas sprinkled onto the plate for decoration, and the filling was added into the tacos to create 'THE MEXICAN ROO'. I hpe it is as yummy as it looks. :)

Chicken and Avocado quesadillas.

In this cooking lesson, we made chicken and avocado quesadillas. I was really excited to make these in hospitality. We cut up the chicken, avocado, spinach and divided up the sun - dried tomatoes. I then put in my filling and put the cheese inside. I put the cheese on the edges so it would close. When they were put in the sandwich toaster, the cheese from my quesadilla came out, and ended up going everywhere. The second time, i didn't put cheese on the end, and so the cheese didn't go everywhere. I really enjoyed eating my quesadilla.
